 You may have heard by now that we have forged a web alliance with the Real Estate Institute of WA.
aussiehome.com continues as an independent web site and organisation, serving its clients, as now.
What this means for our WA clients is:
- REIWA "Internet Listing Service" (ILS) subscribers will soon be able to upload properties to reiwa.com directly from the aussiehome.com system
- reiwa.com will complete its coverage of WA, and will cement it position as the #1 real estate portal in the State
- REIWA and aussiehome.com will develop web services and online real estate marketing seminars/courses together

 REIWA.com (also known as the "Real Estate in WA" web site) attracts 250,000 visitors a month.
It is already a national property web site (regularly in the top 10 web sites in the country - Hitwise).
At a time when print media are trying to dominate the Internet space, we believe the best defensive (and forward-thinking) move is to back your Institute site. We have built, and are currently testing, the feed to reiwa.com. It should be ready in a couple of weeks.

 We've also been busy on other things. A few days ago, we launched a new (free) service for all public users of the aussiehome.com web site:
Every property on aussiehome.com now comes with TRAVEL DIRECTIONS.
Another first for aussiehome.com: we are the first site in Australia to include travel directions to every property.
The general property searching public can enter their starting address and they are then shown a mapped route, with full instructions, on how to get to your property.

 In Perth, available properties are thin on the ground (down to less than 10,000 in Perth metro), are selling almost as soon as they are listed, and demand is as strong as ever. In Sydney, the property market downturn (median prices have dropped 10%) is risking dampening the economy even as the stock market powers on, having risen 50% in past 2 years (The Age, Sept 28th 05).
Some of our WA clients are telling us they have no listings at all - for the first time in their professional careers! aussiehome.com properties for sale are at a 2-year low (at about 3,350 in WA).
This backs up what we are hearing from our WA clients, and evidence from the markets, industry groups and economists seem to point to this being the trend for a while yet.
While crystal ball gazing is fraught with problems (all we can say for sure is that markets will go up, down or sideways), the booming resources sector should lead to more price rises in Perth, Darwin and Brisbane over the next 12 months even though interest rates are likely to rise slightly in 2006 (PMI Institute forecast, 29th Sept 05).
